What a really good read. This series had a well thought out plot with believable characters. The character development was where I really enjoyed what the author had to offer. One thing I look for is how a book flows, if the book doesn't flow well it makes reading a story choppy and clustered, this author however knew to keep the flow and tempo of the story captivating and that kept me coming back for more
Just read this series for the second time and out of the 30 or so books (series) in this genre, this one stands alone. The best developed and believable characters, a nice balance of descriptiveness and back story without wasting endless pages, very realistic and likely outcome of things based on probably the most likely collapse scenario. Mark Goodwin (prepperrecon.com) has a real winner here. I like this more than his NOAH series, which is also good. Bummer I have to wait 6 months or so before I can read for a third time. 299 days, one second after, lights out, enemies foreign and domestic, last stand, the angery american set, and deep winter are the best I've read, but this set smokes them all.
What a great way to wake people up to how easy it can all fall apart at the same time subtle but obviously teaching valuable lessons on how to prepare for the unexpected, how to survive and what to e,left in a way of what's coming. Most importantly Mark Goodwin shows, well first and foremost that relying on and making GOD your foundation is the most important thing you can do for your family.... all this intertwined in characters you grow to live and feel for among situations that will expose anyone for who they truly are.... GREAT JOB ME GOIDWIN!!
Highly recommended. This is the third book in Mark Goodwin's Economic Collapse series and like the previous two, is done in an excellent manner, ranking him among the best of the Postapocalyptic writers. The only thing I could see to talk about is that a little more attention could be given to the detail of activities, rather than just generalizing the activity, as tho the author was in a hurry to move on. In this book, the author doesn't think much of fhe DHS, which is understandable as many of us think the same (emerging American SS?). But more could have been brought up that here we have Americans fighting Americans, both of whom think they are in the right, as in the US Civil War (War between the States). Read the three books.
This has been a great series of books. They not only give you ideas on how to prepare for an event like the plot of these 3 books but they do it in a very entertaining way, but the middle of the first book you are rooting for the good guys and booing and hissing the bad guys. As you can tell I enjoyed them alot.
This is an important read for anyone concerned with the direction this country is taking. I only wish I could have known of these books when they first came out. They should be in school libraries, if not read in history classes as a way to show young people what happens when government becomes master. I pray there is a way to put a stop to what the government has planned for the future of America. Above all, pray and read your Bible. It, and it's Author, really do contain the wisdom of the ages, and the only true Hope for anyone.
Very good read. Not qute as good as the first book but that is no criticisim - the first book was that good. It's great to have well written book from a realistic Christian perspective. Not preachy at all, the story reflects the viewpoints, beliefs, and values of the great majority of Americans whether openly practicing Christians or not. Many readers will probably not notice the Christian perspective entirely assuming it is just the average American's perspective which is in fact a Christian one. I noticed and I like it very much.
The philosophy behind this American Reset will explain to you what the Founding Fathers were getting at. This isn't a feel good book for teens, this is an adult look at the cost of freedom and why some will continue to pay that price. it doesn't pull any punches about the hard decisions ahead of us if we continue to let tyrants take our freedom piece by piece. Not only entertaining but thought provoking. Where do I draw the line at what I'm willing to do so our children live free? And where have I acted, or failed to act, so that the price of liberty and justice for all has to be calculated yet again?
