I probably should have looked into this book more before buying it. I thought it was entirely creative prompts. I could have done without the autobiography.
I've been following Kristina for many years now, so I was quite excited to receive her book!This book not only talks about Kristina's story as an artist, but it also gives little artsy challenges and activities to the reader to complete and get their creative juices flowing. For example, one challenge was to decorate a coffee cup! Not all challenges have to be completed in the book which is nice because I found that the pages are quite thin..Because of these thin pages, alcohol markers (ex: copic markers, ohuhu markers) bleed through the page. Watercolor and paints wrinkle the pages a little bit as well. I found that colored pencils work best; however, since this is a book directed towards young artists or artists just needing some extra creative ideas, it's a shame the pages aren't a little thicker.Overall, and aside from the material issues, this book really is a lot of fun and I do recommend it to young and growing artists!
It was fun to read about the authors journey of discovery from doodling as a youngster to teen instagram sensation. Bought this book to share with my daughter and we have been working on the creativity exercises together. It is a fun way to us to relax and spend some bonding time together.
Adorable book; I think my cousin will love it. Personally I think it's best for either someone who loves drawing but isn't a serious artist, or for younger ages. My cousins are 14 and 17. The youngest is an amazing artist, but I didn't get it for her because she doesn't need that kind of prompting or inspiration. She would probably still like it, but I got it for her sister, who just draws for fun and would be more excited to be given a challenge than to think of her own. Lots of cute ideas and creative challenges, as well as an inspirational autobiography of the artist. Only giving 4 stars because the edges were fairly scuffed and did not look new- especially on the front cover.
I have been a fan of Kristina Webb for a very long time and whenever she announced that she was coming out with a challenge book I got extremely excited and pre-ordered it that very day. If you have ever been familiar with a wreck it journal or one of the like, this is the type of format this book kind of follows. What I love about this book is that she includes a backstory about her personal life along with fun facts and pictures. Another thing that is great is that she includes so many of her personal drawings! They are extremely mesmerizing, and if you want to excel as an artist, it's really helpful to look at her artwork and learn from her techniques. Not necessarily copy her technique, but instead just learn why and how her work is successful. And of course she includes 50 fun and free hand challenges to help you unlock your personal creativity! I purchased this for my daughter and she LOVES book! Each page gives suggestions of how to be creative in your expression. High quality pages and so much fun to use. My daughter also likes the author, Kristina Webb.
Accidentally ordered this one instead of her other book, but nonetheless I am impressed. Not only is the textured cover great but also the challenges and information inside was creative and beautiful!
Much different from what I have expected. I cant buy this book in HK. Attracted by the author's instagram paintings, I tought there should be more drawings. But in fact most are the author self introduction. Hope the author can improve in the next book.
