I am certainly far from a "young adult' many times over, but I really enjoyed this series. It was exciting, frustrating, and beautiful all at the same time. The storyline was great. Darius was a great character to watch develop into a good and benevolent king. The villains are truly villains and just get nastier as they go along. This book had characters you can love to hate and surprises with changes in heart that tells us people can change. This writer is developing as he moves from series to series. I am enjoying following along to see what he will do next.
I have really enjoyed this entire series. I love the story line and hope that the author will continue the stories of Darius and Christine and their family and friends. I particularly have enjoyed the development of the story characters throughout the series. They are very real to life for me, including some of the development of personalities and personal philosophies of the characters as they have grown and experienced life and its challenges. An example is the character of Alessandra. The way she was torn between her loyalties to her father, mother and Kelln. Her love of her father in spite of what she knew about him and the way that he controlled her; the need to find her mother; and the added torment caused by her love of Kelln, made her seem very human. I hope that we will hear a lot more from this talented author. If you haven't read this, it is a great read. Of course, read the first two books of the series first .
Though I enjoyed all of the books in this series, I enjoyed this one the most. I loved the characters of Darius and Christine the most. It was really nice to watch Darius' character develop from spoiled rich kid to a very caring and devoted King, husband, son, and friend by book 3. But he could have done none of these things without the love of his life, Christine, or his friend Mezar. If you are looking for a very good adventure and love story this series is for you!
This concluding book of the series was another page turner. This series is a nice, easy read with a good story. I've already read it several times and look forward to another read in the future. I'm sure there's a spin-off or two with some apparent insignificant characters, so I'll be on the lookout.
Finding words to describe these three books is very hard to do. I read book two in two hours cause I couldn't put it down. Book three took longer due to life getting in the way. Loved the whole story. Can't read just the first.
Amazing conclusion of the trilogy. The style of Mike Shelton is one of the bonuses of the trilogy, you gain an appreciation for the good guys warts and all. You can boo the bad guys, they don't care they will get worse anyway. Enjoyable read.
I really enjoyed this book. I'm still hoping there will be some type of follow up with the main characters. I would definitely recommend reading it.
Although I am not a 'young' adult I am thoroughly enjoying these books. There is so much adventure and fantastic things such as wizards and the cremolino horses that I had a hard time putting it down.
