A great followup to Appaloosa Summer! Meg returns to the island, a new horse to ride, and Jared. Unfortunately Jared has something he needs to tell her. Something devastating. Instead of Meg's magic summer, she takes on teaching some younger girls to do a musical ride. The growth of Meg as an instructor is really engrossing, and the girls were funny. One of the things I liked best about this book was Meg's relationship with her mother, and how they both grew and changed. As always, the horse stuff in the story was realistic and accurate.

I loved the first book so much I bought the second as soon as I saw it was available! Before starting it I did wonder how the author was going to live up to the first book. She did! And blew me away!! Shortly after the book starts Jared drops a bomb on Meg. Once again we see Meg grow, in a different way, as a person. Here she learns that just because a mistake is made doesn't mean forgiveness can't follow. I love how Meg deals with Jared's news and takes time to see how she feels. The actions of both main characters are very realistic! It's a story I think everyone should read regardless of their age! The author also kept the right balance of romance and horseiness in this book. This was an amazing read with many messages: sometimes in helping others you help find your self and your confidence, and everyone makes mistakes (some hurt more then others) but don't throw everything away, forgiveness is possible, just listen to your self and don't rush it. Than you again Ms. Robins for another outstanding book! I can't wait to read more!!

4.5 stars -- I was lucky enough to receive an ecopy of this book from the author!!This was a SOLID followup to the first book -- both books felt very much like coming-of-age tales, but this one was NOT a repeat of the first book. This was Meg growing even more, struggling with new and different challenges. From the synopsis, I knew this was going to be a hard book to take, and I wasn't disappointed. Ms. Robins gives us heartbreak, but it's so real and multi-dimensional and takes us through the ringer with Meg. I'm finding it extremely difficult to write this review without spoilers....and still say something meaningful. I guess I just really liked that the characters aren't perfect, and they don't always behave the best, and that things actually take time to resolve and accept and move on from.I enjoyed the development of her relationship with her mother as a result -- I always found it intriguing reading about their not-overly-affectionate relationship (since that's kind of foreign to me), so it was nice to see them grow but stay true to their own characters at the same time. The side plot with the girls and the musical ride was a nice relief from Meg's troubles.... I kept thinking it would be too much to draw me away from Meg's story, but she ends up learning and growing through her relationship with the girls as well.I have NO IDEA where the 3rd book is going to go, I just hope for slightly less heartbreak. I will be watching for the last book though! It's been fun watching Meg grow....

Appaloosa Summer was a sweet book, well written, and a pleasure to read. Wednesday Riders covers Meg's next summer on the island. It is a tougher read than the first book, as Meg and Jared's relationship is torn apart by a set of understandable if immature actions by both and Meg explores new directions. Meg puts her energy into her new horse, Jessie, and into Lacey's wild hair of an idea to do a musical team ride with some friends. Meg grows up a lot during her summer, and realizes how much she loves being on the island even without Jared by her side. There's a lot of relationship conflict on all sides, but I appreciate that it all comes from a place that makes sense to the characters, and isn't manufactured or fake. So, while I had to put it down here and there during the painful parts, I still loved the book and highly recommend it.The horse details are plentiful and accurate, but won't get in the way of the story for a non-horse lover. I'd consider this most suitable for high school and up.

Wednesday Riders is the sequel to Appaloosa Summer. While it is an entertaining book, I did not like it as much as the original. For one, it lacks the original book's innocence. Plus it suffers from likable characters doing acting dumb and unlikeable things. I personally wish I had stopped reading at the end of the first book when I liked the characters more.I'd recommend this book for teens and older due to some sexual content.

Thoroughly enjoyed this follow-up to Appaloosa Summer. Sequels are always a precarious thing, especially when you love the first book so much, but Wednesday Riders did not disappoint. I loved going back to the island and seeing the characters again, as well as meeting several new characters who were all very well-drawn, each with their own nuances and complications. Tudor's books never give you what you are expecting, but the reading experience is all the richer for that. And although there were a few times that I wanted to shake Meg for some of her decisions and reactions, she constantly redeemed herself to me as she refused to wallow in self-pity, instead throwing her energy into working hard and helping others, both of which pay off for her in the end. A super read and highly recommended.

This was a good follow up to the first book in the series. I really appreciated the risk the author took by making her main characters less than *perfect.* I've read too many stories where the characters are so flat and one dimensional; it's nice to see some real people that have real problems and even make the occasional mistake. With that said, I do think that Meg's reaction to a few things that happened in the book were a little too overdramatic. There were several times when she seemed really immature for how grown-up and level-headed her character was portrayed in the first book. Overall though a good story with a satisfying ending. Looking forward to the next installment in the series.
