About the Author
Laurence Cleyet-Merle grew up in a green countryside near Switzerland where she always enjoyed drawing. She is a graduate of the School of Decorative Arts in Strasbourg. As an SDA Christian, I like for religious books to be true to the Bible. I sometimes get disappointed with these baby Bible books because they emphasize man's accomplishments so much instead of God's providence and power. Anyways, I am a very picky person when it comes to religious material for my children, and I could not find one thing wrong with this book. I feel like I have finally found my baby shower gift if I want to give a "Bible."On another note, my baby is almost 26 months old and is learning to read already. So many baby books have too many lines on each page with small print because they are meant for the adult to only read. This one only has 4 lines of text for every open 2-page spread, and each line might have 5 words maximum. The text is large print. The words are simple. My baby and I underline words with our finger as we read them. Though he is still working on 4-line text, he is making an effort to underline in this book and I know he will be able to do it soon. So it is very appropriate for teaching reading or if you are fostering early reading like I am.As an ethnic minority, I always wish there were more options with drawings that at least look like people from the middle east, instead of all Caucasians like in this book. But I am just happy that I found a baby Bible that was true to scripture with large simple print and few lines.I highly recommend this Bible.PS This is not a board book, so unless your child knows how to treat book pages carefully, you may not want to let them handle this one.
My oldest son loved this book. Reading it to him as a baby always calmed him and he payed close attention. Later he loved me reading it to him everynight. We got so we almost had it memorized. My youngest son was slower learning to like books (he has Down Syndrome). This was one of the first books that he would listen to and not immediately want to close the book. This book has wonderful rhyme and rhythm while staying much truer to the bible than most children's bible books. The only problem is it's rhyme is so rememberable that it messes me up a little on the true wording of bible verses. I always like David saying "You come to me with a spear and a sword, but I come to you in the name of the Lord!". Take that Satan.
... Except the NIV or NASB. =)But for kids, this Bible is amazing. The rhymes are well written, the pictures are beautiful, and my kids absolutely love it.We got this Bible after reading the Toddler version of this book first, and were curious what else there was since our kids had memorized the younger version.We weren't disappointed. This version is much bigger and more sophisticated (but still within their reach/understanding), and it really goes the distance. The stories are longer and richer, with more detail. I would say this Bible is great for anyone between the ages of 2.5 to 5.We'll be buying many more as gifts for friends.
My daughter loves this book. I've read it to her since she was 2 months old and she's almost two now. If she has her choice to choose a book to read, she always picks the Rhyming toddler Bible first. She will sit through the whole book and even want it read again when we're done. I really like that her favorite book is based on the Bible and is a fairly accurate interpretation. I'm excited to try the older kids version of this book as well, The rhyming Storybook Bible, I think it's called, I've heard it's excellent as well. I would recommend this book to everyone with at baby or young toddler.
This is my go-to baby gift - excellent first Bible for parents or grandparents to read to children. The kids will love the rhyming, plus the gorgeous water color illustrations that go with every story. Heck, I love the water color illustrations! Just a beautiful edition and retelling of the major stories in the OT & NT.
My 2-year-old loves having her very own Bible and reads stories from the book every night. The rhymes are simple, yet thoughtful and humorous at times, and the sing-song cadence allows toddlers to quickly memorize the stories. My daughter's favorite story is about "Noah's boat," as she says, and after a few weeks was able to recite the story herself. We even bought her a toy ark to reinforce the story. She has now memorized several of her favorite stories.It's been such a joy to see her, at an early age, enjoy reading about God, Jesus, and the lives of His followers.

I was deciding between the toddler version of the Rhyme Bible and the regular version. I chose this one because of the smaller size and I'm glad I did. It's easy to lay in bed with my son, hold it above us and read. My nephew has the other version which is much bigger and much heavier.The storybook is pretty good. Considering the need to rhyme, the author did a good job with the various Bible stories. My 2 year old son enjoys the book and asks for certain stories each night.My only criticism is actually with the artist. The drawings are inconsistent. I think the artist had a hard time with drawing the same person from different perspectives (front, side profile, at a distance). The characters (Ruth for example) looks like a different person on each page. I also don't like how Jesus is pictured--in a white church choir robe, mostly with his arms stretched out to his sides as though he just stood like that all the time.Considering it's for toddlers, I'd still recommend the book.
